NYC bill would ban discrimination based on weight The New York City Council is considering a bill that would ban discrimination based on weight in employment, housing and public accommodations. The legislation, which was introduced last year, would prohibit discrimination based on a person’s actual or perceived height or weight in those three areas. It would include exceptions for employers who need to consider height or weight as a “bona fide occupational qualification” that is reasonably necessary to conduct business and for operators or providers of public accommodations where height or weight qualifications are factors in public safety or health. The legislation had hearings in the city’s civil and human rights and state and federal legislation committees at the end of last month, and The Washington Post reported that it will likely be voted on in the upcoming weeks. Michigan is the only state in the country that has passed a law to declare weight is a protected category from discrimination along with o...

Kickin’ It with Kiz: Broncos Country isn’t big enough for Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick

Kickin’ It with Kiz: Broncos Country isn’t big enough for Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton and Tim Patrick I don’t want the Broncos to trade Jerry Jeudy. He’s just coming into his All-Pro window as a receiver.Ben, happy camperKiz: This is a math question wrapped in football problem. If the Broncos want to pick up the fifth-year option on Jeudy’s contract, they will have far too much money committed to Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and Jeudy, who combined for only eight TD catches in 2022. Yes, Patrick was hurt. But even a knucklehead like me tried to warn the Broncos not to pay Sutton like a marquee receiver after he tore his ACL. One of these guys has to go. I’m guessing Sutton will be out of here before training camp opens. After all the money the Broncos spent in free agency, where do they need help? Center! We’re in trouble if we start LLoyd Cushenberry and and he hasn’t improved immensely.Josh, fitness proKiz: We admit the the staff here at Kickin’ It Headquarters tends to be a finicky bunch. But what we appreciated about the Broncos’ approach to f...

Russia Calls for U.N. Investigation of Nord Stream Attack, as Hersh Accuses White House of False Flag The Russian government has accused Germany, Denmark, and Sweden of a cover-up in their investigations into the sabotage attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines last September. Moscow, with the support of China, plans to introduce a resolution before the United Nations Security Council on Monday calling for an independent international investigation. The White House declined to answer questions from The Intercept about whether the U.S. has ordered its own investigation, saying only that it is supporting its allies in their individual probes. Germany, along with Denmark and Sweden, are each conducting separate investigations but say they are cooperating with one another. In a series of letters to European governments and the United States in February, made public by Moscow earlier this month, Russian officials complained that they have been barred from examining evidence gathered from the sites where the blasts occurred.
